tornado!
I dreamed that I was on a beachfront with friends and family, where we had some beachfront bungalow. It was pretty shacklike but super quirky and with lots of character. Like, part of the house was constructed from a gift that some people had given me which was basically a giant art piece that was a corner of the front of the structure with painted panels and objects glued upon it, drawings, and writing that was like letters to me from a select group of friends (from a distant past time in my life). It was masterminded by Maryse (a girl I know from HS). I had all of my important stuff around me - journals, letters, cell phone. The whole coast was on a tornado warning. I knew it could happen but I left the area to go wander down the beach for some reason.
As soon as I was far away, I saw the tornado, looking just like one might imagine, heading down the coastline. I fretted that my friends back at the house could be hurt and my journals would be destroyed, and somehow I was especially sad about the art piece/letter/porch section. There was a beachfront store or restaurant that people were taking shelter inside as soon as they saw the tornado. I went inside a closet that had basically an inch of space in it but somehow the door could almost close behind me. People stood in front of the door too. The tornado hit then. The winds rattled around us, but it never got as bad as I was bracing for. Then it was over and I left and went back to my house, where Nicole had put all of my journals and important things back indoors. She had my cell phone too, which had been somehow able to record my screaming even though I was down the beach at the other place. She said, “You made such a perfect little scream!” I listened to the file. It sounded crackly.
Just then in real life, this painted, lettered spice rack that was made by a mentally disabled person fell off my bedroom wall onto the floor, making a horrendous crash, and scattering objects everywhere. (7:42am PDT)
Also in real life, the eastern seaboard is being pummeled by Hurricane Irene. (Hope you guys are all right! <3)
